For 18 years, Brian, a 48-year-old senior director at a healthcare tech company, had been taking daily hypertension medication. Starting in his early 30s, his family history of high blood pressure with both his father and grandparents affected made him believe this dependency was unavoidable. Overweight and struggling with his health, Brian sought a way to break free. He turned to Ralph, a fitness trainer and lifestyle coach at TSquared Lab, to reclaim his well-being. Ralph’s approach was clear: no cookie-cutter solutions but a sustainable, personalised program designed to fit Brian’s unique lifestyle.
After 18 years of daily hypertension medication, Brian successfully stopped taking it through consistent effort, lifestyle changes, and close monitoring of his blood pressure.
Over 12 months, Brian lost 16 kg and reduced his body fat by 15.5%, transforming his overall health.
A tailored program that combined exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle modifications enabled Brian to achieve long-term, sustainable results.
Brian’s wife played a pivotal role in encouraging him to take control of his health. After much persuasion, Brian visited TSquared Lab to explore a program that would suit his needs. The modern facility and welcoming trainers left a strong impression and, he decided to sign up.“I decided to sign up that same day,” Brian recalled. “It was time to stop making fat jokes about myself and take ownership of my health.”
Before starting with TSquared Lab, Brian's initial attempts to lose weight included boxing and HIIT exercises, but these didn’t yield the desired results. A lack of focus on nutrition derailed his progress.
“I might do the physical intensity, but the nutrition portion was missing,” Brian admitted. “Instead of losing weight, it often went the other way.”
Brian’s coach Ralph emphasised the importance of pairing workouts with proper nutrition, a gap he knew he needed to bridge to achieve the desired results.
Don’t let genetics or long-standing habits define you. Invest in yourself, work out, and take control of your health. It’s the best gift you can give yourself.”

Brian’s biggest obstacle was his dependence on hypertension medication. For years, he had believed there was no way to manage his blood pressure without it. When Ralph proposed a program that could potentially help reduce or even eliminate his reliance on medication, Brian was intrigued but skeptical.
“I’ve been on these medications for so long, and my family history made me think this was permanent,” Brian admitted. “But Ralph’s confidence gave me the push to try.”
Ralph designed a comprehensive program for Brian that combined strength training, cardio, and tailored nutrition. The plan also emphasised consistent blood pressure monitoring and gradual lifestyle changes.
“Hypertension is a silent killer,” Ralph explained. “It’s not just about losing weight; it’s about creating habits that support long-term health.”
One of the key elements was addressing Brian’s diet. Foods high in salt and saturated fats were replaced with nutrient-dense, heart-healthy options. Despite the adjustments, Brian was encouraged to enjoy his meals while staying mindful of portion sizes and food choices.

After training Brian and understanding his health issues, Ralph asked Brian to consult his doctor and ask if he could stop the medication. After having some conversations with the doctor and monitoring his progress for 5 weeks constantly Brian returned to his doctor with his results. To his amazement, his readings had stabilised within the normal range.
“When my doctor told me I could stop taking the medication, it was like a weight had been lifted
off my shoulders,” Brian said. “I never thought I’d see this day.”
Ralph’s guidance was instrumental during this transition.
“We didn’t rush the process,” Ralph noted. “For the first few days off medication, we monitored his blood pressure closely and made adjustments as needed. It was a team effort.”
Brian’s success had a ripple effect on his family. His father, who had been on hypertension medication for 45 years, was astonished by the results.
“My dad couldn’t believe it. He’s seen me struggle for years and assumed there was no way out,” Brian shared. “It made me realise how powerful small changes can be.”
For Brian, this journey was more than just a physical transformation. It was a complete shift in mindset and lifestyle.
“Ralph helped me see that genetics don’t have to define your health. With the right effort and guidance, you can rewrite your story,” he said.
