At the age of 57, Leong, a Safety Officer with a passion for running, faced a significant setback that kept him from pursuing his passion. After suffering a knee injury while preparing for a marathon 23 years ago, he had to stop running and participating in sports altogether. However, his determination to reclaim his fitness led him to TSquared Lab, where he achieved remarkable results under the guidance of his coach, Dimi.
Leong developed a knee issue 23 years ago while preparing for a marathon, because of which he couldn’t continue with his running.
Dimitar at TSquared Lab designed a program for Leong and ensured that he could get back to doing what he loved.
After 6 months of training, Leong was able to run after 23 years, something which he is proud of.
Leong’s initial goal at TSquared Lab was to address his long-standing knee pain and regain his ability to run. Joining the program in February this year, he hoped to overcome his injury and improve his overall health. Despite his weight fluctuating between 70 and 71 kg, Leong achieved a significant reduction in body fat, losing 6% over the course of his training.
Leong shares, “Twenty-three years ago, I developed knee pain while preparing for a marathon. I stopped running and didn’t participate in any sports. When I came across TSquared Lab, I decided to give it a try to see if they could help me run again. Within six months, I not only regained my ability to run but also lost 6% body fat.”
One of Leong’s proudest achievements was his successful return to running. In August of this year, he was thrilled to be back on the track, something he hadn’t been able to do for over two decades.
Leong expresses his joy: “I was ecstatic to run again. It was a fantastic feeling to achieve this after such a long time. My proudest moment was being able to run in August. It was a huge accomplishment for me.”
"I am able to run again. I was so proud that I could run again sometime in August. I achieved it in one click, so I was extremely happy."

Dimi, Leong’s coach, crafted a customised training program that addressed Leong’s specific needs and goals. The program began with easier exercises and progressively became more challenging, which Leong found effective in helping him regain his strength and mobility.
Leong explains, “Dimi designed a program specifically for me, starting with easier exercises and gradually increasing in intensity. It was simple and easy to follow but challenging enough to drive progress. The program was well-suited to my needs.”
Dimi adds, “Leong’s commitment to the program was impressive. He adapted well to the gradual increase in difficulty and stayed consistent, which was key to his success.”
Leong found TSquared Lab’s facility and atmosphere to be welcoming and supportive. He appreciated the non-commercialised, family-like environment and the friendly interactions with the staff, which contributed to his positive experience.
Leong says, “The facility is fantastic. It’s not commercialised like other gyms. It feels cosy and family-oriented, and everyone is friendly. The environment made my training experience enjoyable and motivating.”

Reflecting on his eight months at TSquared Lab, Leong is grateful for the progress he has made in his health and fitness. He is particularly proud of overcoming his knee injury and no longer needing to wear larger-sized clothes.
Leong concludes, “It’s been a great eight months at TSquared Lab. I’ve improved significantly in terms of health and strength. I’m thrilled to be able to run again and proud that I no longer need to wear size 35 pants. It’s now size 32 and a half.”
Leong proves that it’s possible to achieve the impossible.

Reps In Reserve (RIR) are the number of reps or repetitions you can accomplish before hitting a technical failure or before you miss a lift. And technical failure means that you cannot do another rep without proper form. Therefore, RIR is an effective tool to measure the intensity of your workout.
During an exercise set, time under tension (TUT) means the amount of time a muscle is put under strain in a particular exercise. With UT workouts, each phase of the workout is extended, which results in longer workout sets.
