As a 50-year-old, newly retired, Lily embarked on a remarkable fitness journey at TSquared Lab with the guidance of her dedicated coach, Khairul. Her determination to age gracefully and independently led to significant improvements in muscle definition, strength, and overall well-being.
Lily was scared of working out in the gym but wanted to work out to be able to age well and live independently.
Khairul structured a transformation program for her after taking her goals and issues into consideration and guided her on how to eat in moderation.
Through the training program, Lily lost 6% body fat, gained more muscle definition, and also overcame her fear of working out in a gym.
Lily’s decision to join TSquared Lab stemmed from a desire to improve her health and independence as she aged. She faced several challenges before starting the program, including a diagnosis of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and knee problems that required strengthening exercises. Despite these obstacles, Lily was committed to transforming her fitness and health.
She shares, “The reason I signed up for the TSquared Lab program was to age well and be independent. I had IBS and knee problems that made it challenging to stay active. I wanted to strengthen my body and improve my quality of life.”
During her five-month journey at TSquared Lab, Lily didn’t focus solely on weight loss but on body fat reduction and muscle gain. She successfully lost 6% of body fat and noticed a significant improvement in muscle definition, particularly in her arms.
Lily reflects on her progress: “I used to have flabby arms, but since training with Khairul, I can now see my biceps, shoulders, and triceps. That’s the best takeaway so far for me.”

Lily’s proudest moment was mastering chin-ups, something she previously struggled with. Her progress from barely managing one chin-up to completing eight is proof of hard work and Khairul’s effective coaching.
Khairul recounts, “I remember when Lily first struggled with chin-ups. Now, she performs eight reps cleanly. It’s incredible to see her progress.”
Khairul designed a comprehensive program for Lily, including both gym and home workouts. His innovative approach and constant support helped Lily overcome her initial fears and phobias about the gym, leading to consistent progress.
Lily describes her training experience: “Khairul structured two sets of programs for me, one for the gym and one for home. He kept track of my progress daily, which was incredibly supportive. Initially, I was afraid of coming to the gym, but Khairul’s encouragement made a huge difference.”
Khairul adds, “Lily initially preferred machines over dumbbells, but she quickly adapted and even started using dumbbells at home. Her dedication to improving her quality of life through weight training has been remarkable.”

Lily appreciated Khairul’s flexible approach to diet and lifestyle changes. Instead of imposing strict restrictions, Khairul encouraged moderation and sought alternatives that worked with Lily’s IBS issues, ensuring she could progress comfortably.
Lily explains, “Khairul didn’t tell me to cut things from my diet but encouraged moderation. When protein supplements caused discomfort, he helped me find alternatives, which significantly improved my progress.”
Lily views her time at TSquared Lab as a valuable investment in her health and well-being. She praises the friendly environment and supportive staff, which contributed to her positive experience.
She notes, “TSquared Lab is like investing in a stock that yields returns. The positive results I’ve achieved make me feel I made the right investment. The friendly environment and welcoming staff add to the overall experience.”
Lily proves that it’s all about taking the first step.

Reps In Reserve (RIR) are the number of reps or repetitions you can accomplish before hitting a technical failure or before you miss a lift. And technical failure means that you cannot do another rep without proper form. Therefore, RIR is an effective tool to measure the intensity of your workout.
During an exercise set, time under tension (TUT) means the amount of time a muscle is put under strain in a particular exercise. With UT workouts, each phase of the workout is extended, which results in longer workout sets.
When it comes to workouts, you need to consider various factors to create a workout plan. For example, to become stronger and how your training impacts your body. That is you need to choose the right exercise, and lift the right weight, do the right number of reps, complete the set, obtain the proper rest, etc.
